A Revit model can go in to Navisworks Freedom via FBX, and bring in ALL of the custom textures. We’ve looked at Naviswork freedom that gives you the ability to walkthrough the model and view model properties, but doesn’t have the realistic graphics as BIMx, nor an Ipad app.It does have the realistic Materials.
Revizto fee free#
So my first question is, is there such thing as a free BIMx viewer for Revit. In either case, I hope this post doesn’t come over as an Archicad is better that Revit, but more an open discussion when collaboration with an Archicad user and dealing with differences in fees.įirst of all, the client demands a monthly BIMx model where they can view the models of the project.
Revizto fee windows#
No biggie, but it’s a little bit embarrassing when they ask to slant it with windows in it, which isn’t possible in with one click like in Archicad.
Modifying elements to a certain extend is now possible in a perspective view, but drawing a wall when the client ask to do so isn’t possible. These are all billable hours but also here the client doesn’t understand why we bill so much more compared to the design architects.īringing your Revit model to a client meetings is always valuable, but you should be cautious of a couple of limitations. In order to for us to output the same render quality we need to export the model to 3ds max, ad realistic content to make the scene realistic (boxy Revit sofas don’t cut it). Other things that puts us in an awkward position I the fact that the design architects bills very little for high end renderings, because he does it all in archicad. These actions are all man-hours that should be billable, but if the design architects did the same without billing the client, because Archicad does scale down all 2d annotations, then it’s very difficult to make it clear to the client that your systems doesn’t and therefore this extra service needs to be paid for. Unfortunately grids are not view dependent so we’ll have to change them temporary. Because wall layers are modelled separately, we can easily apply a view templates with filters with the appropriate graphics override.
This would mean that we will duplicate the view, change the scale, change tags, dimensions size, text note size. Client requests the same floorplan at scale 1:50 on an A0 sheet size or 1:200 on a A2 sheets size.
So floor plan level 1 with all its annotation and dimension is layout on a A1 sheet at scale 1:100. It has occurred many times that the client, contractor, city requested a drawing at a different scale that has been layout already. Revit being fully Americancentric works exactly that way. So a cut pattern will always have a fixed size, which means a cut pattern 1:50 will be denser than a 1:200 scale. In in the USA, annotations and patterns have a fixed size and shouldn’t scale, when scale is change. So in Revit terms a drafting pattern for example behaves the same way model patterns behave. In many foreign countries cut patterns and other annotations (symbols) have a relative size regardless of the scale. Also could walls have different finishes within one room, while only applies one wall finish to one room. Since we can’t bill the client extra for finish area schedules, what are the options within Revit? We’ve looked at Roombook, but it’s extremely slow. This paint material area can also be calculated separately since openings are subtracted. In Archicad walls have an additional material finish parameter where you can chose to ad paint finish for example without having to add additional layers or model them separately. We’ve looked at tools4revit Dymamic legend, but found it a bit clunky and the layout was very basic and unappealing? Since we are unable to bill for this extra work, we are looking for an addin that will automate this process. In Archicad you can automatically generate a window and door legend with its properties and counts and there is an option to layout each windows separately on a Letter size sheet which is common in the country where this project will be build. We’ve looked at Naviswork freedom that gives you the ability to walkthrough the model and view model properties, but doesn’t have the realistic graphics as BIMx, nor an Ipad app. Because of this there are a couple of issues going forward on this project.įirst of all, the client demands a monthly BIMx model where they can view the models of the project. The design architect has completed SD through the first 50% of DD in Archicad. For one of our foreign offices, we’ve been commissioned to be the executive architect for a large office/retail/hotel project where we’ll be doing 50% of DD, tender documents and CD.
